Sanctuary Retreat is a secluded retreat offering tranquil forest huts allowing you to experience the ultimate in the closeness of nature. 

The huts are of a minimalist design to maximise the sights, sounds and smells of the surrounding rainforest, yet giving you some personal space to those curious creatures you may not want to sleep with.  The Sanctuary Retreat area is one of the rare areas where beautiful rainforest and World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef come to meet on the beautiful tropical shoreline. 

There are many cruises and dive trips from nearby, allowing you to experience the best of the beautiful Barrier Reef off the coast.  Sanctuary is as much a refuge for travelers as it is for wildlife.

It must be said that Sanctuary Retreat is perched on the top of a steep ridge, so guests should be physically fit and healthy. 

Unfortunately, Sanctuary Retreat does not cater for children under eleven years of age.  The Retreat is set on 18 acres of beautiful lush rainforest, 90% of which is classified as Critical Cassowary Habitat - home to the endangered Southern Cassowary or casaurius casaurius johnsonii.  Many walking trails are wind their way through the nearby rainforest.  Sanctuary is built to integrate with and look after the surrounding environment to the maximum degree.

Sanctuary Retreat offers forest huts nestled under the rainforest canopy.  A minimalist type design enhances your perception of the surrounding flora and fauna of the rainforest.
