Kuranda Rail Tour and Markets
Following your courtesy pick up from your accommodation the tour takes you to Freshwater Station.
Your guide will take you aboard the Karunda Scenic Rail for a journey through tunnels and over waterfalls as you weave through the forest to your destination, Karunda.
Take your one and a half hours of free time and explore the friendly village. Wander through the Heritage Markets which are open every day of the week, or use the opportunity to take some photos of the local area.
The tour continues aboard the famous Skyrail where your guide will be waiting with your tickets. Skyrail is a unique journey above the rainforest canopy which takes in some spectacular scenery and gives you the opportunity to see the rainforest from a unique perspective.
Stop along the way and visit two stations including the CSIRO Interpretive Centre at Barron Falls Station. Here you can learn about the significance of the local eco systems, native animals and plant life that call the rainforest home.
The Skyrail continues on to Caravonica Lakes where Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park is located. Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch before learning about the Aboriginal history and culture through stage shows, theatres, demonstrations, the Aboriginal Village and dances by the Tjapukai Dance Troupe.
